Antecedentes históricos de la deuda externa colombiana: la Paz Británica
Resumen
El acceso de América Latina a los mercados internacionales de capitales desde principios del siglo XIX ha dependido del carácter cíclico del proceso de endeudamiento internacional. Los principales prestamistas han sido la Gran Bretaña y los Estados Unidos, la primera desde los años 1820 hasta la Primera Guerra Mundial, y los segundos desde los años 1920.
En este ensayo la atención se enfoca en los ciclos de auge y receso del crédito internacional originados en la Gran Bretaña, así como en la participación de América Latina en aquellos movimientos internacionales de capitales. Se destaca la experiencia de Colombia como deudor internacional dentro del contexto de América Latina, durante el periodo conocido como de la Paz Británica.Referencias bibliográficas
